QUIZ EVENING – BEXHILL FUNDRAISING EVENT

On Friday 25th January 2008 Homecall held a fundraising Quiz Evening at Christchurch Methodist Church Hall, Bexhill. Organised in the main by two volunteers, Jan Corke and Bernice Harvey, the tickets for this event quickly sold out before Christmas. The excellent support from Homecall volunteers and clients along with their family and/or friends numbered fifty four, with a further twenty six who were connected to church members.

At £8 a head everyone enjoyed a ploughman’s supper with plenty to quench the thirst followed by homemade cakes and biscuits to eat during the quiz. We were very grateful to our musical group ‘SMOOTH’ who played easy listening jazz during supper and provided one round of the quiz questions. Their performance certainly received hearty applause. Following supper volunteer Bernice Harvey expertly ran the quiz, obviously a well practiced routine!

Supporters were invited to bring ‘unwanted Christmas presents’ for our raffle. What a brilliant idea! The prizes were plentiful and we thank Roger and Geof for selling tickets raising a magnificent £183.

Congratulations to volunteer Janet Turner along with her husband and two sons who were the winning team. Each were presented with M&S vouchers.

Very grateful thanks go to the aforementioned and to volunteers Jill Dyer and Marilyn Hunnisett for making cakes and helping with supper on the night, to volunteer Rita Wright for more cakes and to Sylvia Emary for her help on the evening. Also thanks to Barry Turnwell of Christchurch Methodist Church for allowing us to hold our quiz at the church hall and for his help on the day. And last, but by no means least, thanks to Little Common Cheese and Delicatessen and Betts and Loyd who generously gave us discount on the supper food they provided.

Thanks to the generosity of all who attended the evening raised the magnificent sum of £760 for Homecall funds.
