Comments received from Clients:

"I really like the way you phone me every now and then. It makes me feel sort of safe, knowing there's someone else looking out for me."

"I can't thank you enough for sorting me out with a new magnifier. I had been quite at a loss without mine and had been totally unable to get any joy with the low vision clinic, who have one of those irritating automated recorded things and you can never speak to a human. Anyway,
after weeks of trying to get one, I mentioned it to you and within a fortnight you had achieved
the impossible and a new (and far superior) magnifier arrived in the post last Friday.

Miss P G, 31.10.05"

“She’s great – we’re well matched and it takes the pressure off my family.”

“I can’t read at all now so she’s a great help and I certainly look forward to her visits; she’s
helped me feel less lonely.”

“Thanks to my Homecall visitor, I now have the chance to take control of my life again.

“My visitor helps me choose my Talking Books and reads my correspondence so I can decide   what  to do with it.

“I like having someone who is trained in keeping confidences to help me pay my bills and keep  my affairs in order.

“I can’t go out alone now  - it would be impossible for me to go out without my visitor.”

“The most important thing is that my visitor helps me to choose my talking books; I totally rely
on them now I can’t see to read at all.

I do not know how anyone with sight loss manages without Homecall."

Homecall Trustee:  “We must always remember that it’s for the clients to decide what they
want  doing and not for us to tell them.”

 Comments received from Voluntary Visitors:

“I phoned the various utilities and arranged for the bills to be sent in large print so that my
client  can read them for herself.”

“I like to know the Co-ordinator is always there for support and advice.

“I enjoyed the Training Session and realised some of the challenges my clients will face. I also   liked knowing there was more information available if I needed it

“Having a go at sighted guiding was very interesting and when I wore the simulated spectacles, I   found it very disconcerting, although I had already seen my surroundings.

“The support groups are a good chance to get to know other visitors and receive the latest   information.
